OK folks here goes.. Please read this description in its entirety. Excuse me for this economic lesson which I'm sure you are all already aware of but I feel the need to have to say this once in the ad rather than with every phone call and email. Our asking price is $4995 for cash purchase this does not include any tax license or fees which is in addition to this price. Financing and monthly payments are not available. Kelly Blue Book says the vehicle is worth $4,424 Nada guide say's its worth $3775 and Edmunds has no values because it doesn't go back further than 2003. Kelly Blue Book comprises its value's (estimates) based on the DMV data base of reported purchase prices for any given year, make and model then uses a formula to add or subtract a certain percentage for mileage adjustment. Three out of 4 vehicles sold private party to another private party declare a lower reported purchase price in order to pay less sales tax and defraud the state out of money that's owed to them. When purchasing a car from a licensed dealership this practice is not practiced which is great because Kelly Blue Book will get a true and accurate declared sales price rather than a phony one but lets step back and predict how many 1998 Volvo's are being sold be dealerships verses private parties... Yes, almost 90% of older vehicles such as this one are being sold by private parties thus not accurately represented by Kelly Blue Book or any other online buying guide due to incorrect data being reported. Now there is another known phenomenon called supply and demand this is what drives all world economies and determines the true market value of any product or good. This particular Volvo being almost 20 years old and having had only 1 owner along with an accident free Carfax history, along with brand new Michelin tires and near flawless interior and exterior not to mention only being driven an average of 6,766 miles per year which is just over 1/3 of the national average puts this vehicle in short supply and high demand. Why? because if you were looking for an XC70 Cross Country with low miles and a flawless California ownership history this could possibly be the only one for sale within hundreds of miles. When using a buying guide like KBB, Edmunds or Nada there's no magical box to click to specify all the little things that make this car great and there is also no box to click which will make people report accurate purchase pricing when purchasing private party. I'm sorry for the long winded explanation but Volvos, Subarus, 4Runners and Tacomas tend to bring out the crazies who although are very educated, knowledgeable and intelligent people seem to think they can justify low ball offers to me based on these tactics. We do 1 thing at Direct Auto Outlet and that is sell used cars. It is the only thing we do and its probably the thing we do best in this world so please come see us with realistic expectations and respectable offers. Thank you.
