1998 Volvo S70 T5, 2.3 Liter(237HP) Inline 5 Cylinder Turbo, 4-Speed Automatic, FWD: This gorgeous black Volvo has just 102,058 miles with an accident free Carfax history and 4 previous owners. If you're a Volvo aficionado you already know what this car is. If you're not a quick spin behind the wheel will make you a devotee. This car has a number of nice features including power windows and locks, heated power mirrors, 8 way power adjustable heated front seats with driver memory, power moonroof, AM/FM/CASSETTE/CD Stereo, dual zone front climate control, power locking fuel door, power trunk release, and a drivers information center/trip computer that tracks your mileage. There are a number of things that aren't readily apparent that set this car apart from the average mid size sedan. First is the seats which were designed by a renowned Swedish orthopedic surgeon and are likely the most comfortable you will ever sit in. As somebody who has owned and road tripped these cars I will tell you first hand a 1000+ mile trip in these seats is an absolute joy that won't leave your back aching. The comfort factor in these seats is unmatched and frankly shames makes like Cadillac, Lincoln, Jaguar, and Mercedes in sheer comfort. If you are someone with back problems or other aches and pains you will fall in love with these seats. Volvo has also been since day one the leader in safety and this car not only has dual front airbags it also has side impact airbags which were nonexistent in other makes in 1998. Volvo's SIPS(Side Impact Protection System) is a combination of not only the side airbags but also includes special honeycomb structures within the door and sill that make it one of the safest cars on the road even by todays standards. Go ahead and google Volvo S70 crash test videos it'll only make you want this car more. This car also has daytime running lights, 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, and a nifty rear fog lamp feature that illuminates a special brighter bulb within the tail lamp assembly that makes you more visible in inclement weather. Speaking of inclement weather one of my favorite features and one I've only seen on Volvo's and Saab's is the transmissions Winter Mode which starts the car off in 3rd gear to prevent wheel spin in Icy conditions as it allows you to increase the power applied gradually and also hold gears to take advantage of engine braking while slowing down. With winter mode active you won't find yourself spinning your wheels and digging holes that you have to free yourself from. The Transmission also has settings for Economy and Sport. Speaking of Sport this car will rocket from 0-60 in a scant 6.1 seconds thanks to it's high pressure turbo. 237 horsepower in a 3,150 pound car equals rocket ship acceleration. The 0-60 times don't tell the whole story as under 3,000 rpm's it doesn't feel like much but once the Turbo steps in you better hang on. The first version of this car the 850 T5(S70 is the updated 850) was faster from 40-80 mph than the Ferrari 512 Testarossa to put it into perspective. From a rolling 20 mph start this car will embarrass WRX STI's, Lancer Evos, and a whole host of other sports cars. It's not just fun in a straight line either mind you as Volvo worked in partnership with Porsche when they developed the suspension and it shows on a winding road. They developed what was termed Delta Link in the rear which incorporates 2 long rails that cross over each other when connecting the rear suspension which makes the rear outside wheel push outwards much like how a skier pushes off and tucks the car into the corner. The Delta Link very much feels like a rear drive sports car with an independent rear axle in the way it behaves. When I saw the fuel economy numbers listed in a number of places I about died laughing as 17 city/24 highway is way below what I've experienced in my personal T5. My combined average was usually between 23-24 mpg and I drive with a lead foot most of the time. On 1000+ mile trips I averaged 30-32 mpg with mostly Interstate driving. At 80 miles per hour this car is not working hard at all as it was designed for 150mph+ sustained cruising on the Autobahn. It's got a nice set of Continental Control Trac All Season tires that were made the 33rd week of 2015 which still have more than half their original tread. It got 2 new front axles at 71,050 miles as well as new Monroe struts and spring seats. The sway bar links were replaced in December 2017 at which time the transmission was also flushed and serviced. In April of 2018 it got a new dipstick tube, new radiator, new spark plugs, and new distributor cap. This car is in excellent mechanical condition. This car really has it all, a nice large trunk, roomy interior, great handling, thrilling acceleration, excellent fuel economy, beautiful leather interior with real burled walnut wood, great sounding stereo, moonroof, and class leading safety features that make it safer than even many brand new cars
