1961 Ferrari 250 GTE Matching Numbers. 1961 Ferrari 250 GTE s/n 2267, Engine No. 2267 Red with Tan Leather So Proud to offer you this interesting piece of Ferrari history, that has been just serviced at a well-known Ferrari dealership. The Ferrari 250GTE is fast shedding its reputation as an affordable 3-litre 12-cylinder Ferrari. Like all Ferraris from the 50's, they are enjoying tremendous appreciation, and this car represents an opportunity to acquire a well-maintained example that is ready to enjoy. Over the years, GTEs have become increasingly rare as many have been cannibalized for parts for replicas and for other models. The car was born dark blue and now repainted in the correct red from the era. The panel gaps are consistent throughout, with the door fit being especially nice. The chrome is generally excellent. The car is fitted with correct and rare Marchal headlights and driving lights. All five Borrani wire wheels are present. The interior in excellent condition. The dashboard is excellent with no shrinkage or fading to the leather. The interior chrome is extremely nice as is the steering wheel. The headliner is intact and the carpets are excellent. The engine compartment is very well kept and correct. The three-eared air cleaner wing nuts are still present and correct-type yellow plug leads are also installed. The engine compartment is very clean and makes a great impression. The trunk is also extremely nice, showing no significant shortcomings. The exhaust system is the correct Ansa type and have very little mileage on it. Mechanically, this is an outstanding example. The car drives extremely nicely. The motor sounds and runs strong with very minimal smoke and excellent oil pressure. The carburetors are properly adjusted and synchronized. The transmission works correctly, and the 2nd gear synchro, is very good, both warm and cold. The overdrive also works correctly. The brakes are effective and well balanced, and the suspension has a tight and responsive feel. We cannot stress enough what a great joy this car is to drive. It is rare to find such an unmolested example of the 250GTE never in a wreck, raced or abused, 2267 went to a thru a Full restoration. After the restoration was completed the car was only used in a few Shows. Cosmetically, the car is in Excellent Condition. The repaint was a high-quality job. The body is rather straight with fantastic gaps all around. The chrome and stainless trim were redone to the highest standards. window glass looks to be original, and is very nice considering its age. The car sits on completely redone Borrani wire wheels with brand new correct tires. The interior is also representative of a High-Quality Restoration. This example is still fitted with the factory wood wheel and Blaupunkt Radio. The gauges all in working order. The underside is straight and very well presented. rust free and shows evidence of much recent work. The trunk has been reupholstered and repainted as part of the most recent restoration. With the car come reprinted owner's manuals for 250 GTEs and jack and knock-off hammer.
